Campustalks “Why Darwin matters”

Tweede editie CAMPUSTALKS staat in het teken van het Darwin jaar. 150 jaar na het verschijnen van "On the Origins of Species" wil CROSSTALKS een interdisciplinaire bijdrage leveren aan het Darwinjaar met een nieuwe CAMPUSTALKS. Op 8 mei geeft Jean-Michel Claverie, Professor of Medical Genomics and Bioinformatics uit Marseille (en auteur van 'Bioinformatics for Dummies') een lezing "On viruses and their contribution to the evolution of life on this planet", gevolgd door een paneldiscussie met 4 van België's meest legendarische biologen, Prof. Em. Nicolas Glansdorff (VUB), Prof. Em. René Thomas (ULB), Prof. Em. Raymond Hamers (VUB) and Prof. Em. Nicky Roggen (VUB).
Een tweede luik sprekers trekt het biologische thema open naar andere vakgebieden door middel van het Pecha Kucha format, waarbij sprekers 20 slides mogen gebruiken van maximum 20 seconden lang. Uit de vorige editie op 25 maart bleek alvast dat de {20*20} formule garant staat voor een geanimeerde opeenvolging van up-tempo presentaties, die steeds met de nodige zin voor relevantie en humor verlopen.

Darwin Campustalks gaat door op 8 mei op de VUB Campus in Etterbeek van 15 tot 19 uur. Het event is gratis, maar inschrijven is verplicht en kan op http://crosstalks.vub.ac.be.
